In medieval times the Benedictine abbey St. Maximin was the leading winery along the Mosel. One of the best sites of the abbey was the Maximin Klosterlay. Eventually during the secularization under Napoleon the property was sold and one of our ancestors was able to buy vineyards in the Maximiner Klosterlay. The sun directly faces the vineyard and a Mosel lock provides a huge water area directly at the bottom of the Maximin Klosterlay. The wines show an enormous length paired with a mineral structure and elegant aromas.
