Maximin Herrenberg

Back in the year 1868 the prussian royal government classified the vineyards of the Mosel. To rate the tax treatment, the wine quality of different sites was classified. The owner of the best vineyard should pay the highest taxes. The Maximin Herrenberg came into the highest category of Moselwines.

Our Maximin Herrenberg was planted ungrafted in year 1896 and the vines stand original until today. In this size, it is the oldest Riesling vineyard in the whole world.

Maximin Herrenberg is a south facing site with red slate terroir. This Rarely encountered soil gives the wine a unique Aroma.
